Living and working in Silicon Valley: Coding in a land far, far away

Dr. Dirk Meister, Pure Storage (California, USA)

Tuesday, 18.12.2018, 6:15 pm, room O2 (the talk will be held in English)

Silicon Valley, the area south of San Francisco, is the home of hundreds of tech companies from small startups to 3 of the 10 most valuable companies. It is one of the innovation drivers in the world. And they hire software engineers. A lot. If software development is your passion, it might be a place for you.

After studying in Paderborn and researching at the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC2), Dirk Meister moved to Silicon Valley. After an internship there in 2012, he returned there in 2014 to join Pure Storage, a large-stage storage startup.

In this talk, he will explore living and working in Silicon Valley. What is it, where it is, and why an internship there is his recommendation for students of Computer Science at the University of Paderborn.
